lost afternoon

After a hard morning of playing, running, and doing whatever else a cat loves to do, a long nap is in order. Not to be disturbed until dinnertime!

This is my latest effort as I continue to try to find my voice. While my earlier work was much more detailed, I've been trying to develop work that is looser, more spontaneous, and maintains a freshness. Figuring out what to leave out of a painting has been my biggest challenge. But I'm getting there!

This painting was created with a variety of soft pastels with an emphasis on shapes, color, and their relationships to each other.
