Talk About It
The painting was inspired by a trip to Arches, where I saw the rock formations known as "The Gossips." I wanted to enhance the feeling that the rocks were people and imagined all the things they had seen over hundreds of years. There would be a lot to talk about! It was a grey day, but the night before had been beautiful, so I tried to recreate the colors I remembered in the sky. I did an alcohol wash as the backdrop and then soft pastel exclusively on top.
