Frosty the Ragdoll Cat

Discovering the beauty of cats through my pastel paintings inspire me to do more! This particular one of Frosty is on UArt 500 grit. I use pan pastels as the under painting. Then layer with nupastels and soft pastels to build the values. The fine fur and detail work is done with pastel pencils. The eyes are the windows to the animals personality. I paint the eyes with pan pastels, then layers of specks from pastel pencils to build the color and light reflecting from them. I do the eyes during the beginning of the process and build the fur outward around the eyes of the cat. The eyes are my inspiration.
