Into the Slipstream
On a recent visit to Monet's home, Giverny, I was taken by the idea of what Monet viewed from his window there. In a process of trying to put myself into his shoes, I began to imagine what else Monet might have been imaging through this window. In painting this piece, I combined two reference photos I took, one at Giverny, another at a pond in Massachusetts. I began with an underpainting of iridescent watercolor and added hard and soft pastel on top, including iridescent soft pastels on light green Pastelmat.
