Blackfoot River Reflections

I begin most of my work with a NOTAN, visiting each site that I paint and, then a small Plein air piece, generally blocking in an underpainting with watercolor to help establish the design. Occasionally I will add some texture with a pastel sanded medium to create additional texture in certain areas. The application of the pastel then becomes almost magical.
